Why This Reference Exists
Older printed directories are only one part of a Byron Township search. Current property evidence is held by the township Assessor and Kent County GIS; land transfers sit with the Kent County Register of Deeds; voter data follows Michigan’s public-access and redaction rules. Byron KDL, Grand Rapids Public Library, the Library of Michigan, and the Byron Center Museum hold much of the historical layer. The goal is to make the right office, collection, and access limit clear before a search begins.
What the Directory Organizes
- Search angles: the street directory for address-keyed records, the city directory for historical shelves, and the resident lookup for one-person verification
- Custodian paths: Assessor, Register of Deeds, elections office, court clerk, vital-record office, library, and museum
- Research methods: parcel-to-deed trails, directory entry reading, and household tracing through dated sources
- Limits and requests: Michigan FOIA, restricted records, and the in-person or archival fallback when no online index exists
What This Service Cannot Do
This is a privately operated reference, not a Byron Township office, Kent County department, Michigan agency, court, or library. Its limits are important:
- We cannot confirm that a particular person currently lives in Byron Township
- We cannot pull, certify, or change any record on your behalf
- We cannot add anyone to, or remove anyone from, any roll or database
- We cannot give legal advice about a record or a dispute
- We cannot promise that every coverage year, link, or office detail here is current at this moment
Only the custodian can certify, correct, or formally interpret a record. The terms and disclaimer explain the limits on use of information reached through this reference.
